Upcoming Winter EP - December 14, 2008
Greetings from the land of Dad,
We just spent the last few days recording an EP slated to be released in February 2009. It will be the first of four EPs to come out over the course of the whole year. Each EP will have an accompanying local release show, we'll keep you posted where and when.
This was without rival our best recording experience to date, something we feel will speak for itself on the record. It was (mostly) tracked to tape which brought an incredible character to the songs.
Getting this music out and in your hands is critical to us and we can't wait to make it happen all year. This will be happening in Spring, Summer, and Fall as well, so stay in touch. We'll be exceptionally busy and would love to hear any ideas you may have to make this crazy idea we have that much more interesting.
Thanks for reading,
Conservative Dad

Show at Piecora's 12/06 Sat 8pm - December 5, 2008
We will be playing an acoustic show tomorrow at Piecora's Pizza
(Capitol Hill) at 8pm in the Back Room. We'll be sharing the stage
with the great William Cremin from The Torn ACL's, playing a solo
set.
Sean Lane is currently out of town visiting family, so we've spent
the week rearranging our songs without drums and even putting some new
ones together just for this set.

We hope you'll join us for a slice.

We'll be at Ground Zero in Bellevue this Saturday, November 22 at 7pm with Jon Johnson and Monarch and should be $5 with a can of food in the classic GZ style.
Shortly thereafter we book over to the LAB for Molly's Birthday party (!) with Your Heart Breaks, Deer City, The Lost Episode, Kids and Animals, and the Oregon Donor. Show starts at 6 and will run you $5. Click on the shows page for addresses if these places are unfamiliar to you. Here's to staying in touch, see you sooner...
Recording in a Barn - November 17, 2008
We would like to thank Ron Giard for having us down to the south end to invade his Barn Studio earlier this month with our tape machine. We will be back there in a couple weeks to get some more tracking done. Still looking to have this new EP fully recorded by the end of the year. We are very excited for you all to hear Con Dad recorded in the Barn!
Update / Show tonight - October 25, 2008
Been rehearsing and playing with the tape machine a lot. We plan on self releasing a new EP by the end of the year.
Tonight we bring it all back to the High Dive in Fremont. Been a
while since we've rocked there and we're stoked and ready to give it
up. We open the show at 930 so come out early!
Olympia tonight - Free - All Ages - October 3, 2008
Tonight we'll be playing a medium-loud pillowcore set at Darby's Cafe
in Olympia, WA during the Artwalk. We are the only band scheduled to
play, so we plan on playing two sets between 7 and 9. Stop by and
catch a song or two. Here's the address...

9/26 The Boiler Room (Port Townsend) - 9/28 The Sunset - September 21, 2008
Dad's weekend out. This Friday the 26th we head to Port Townsend to visit the Boiler Room, our third time there in the last six months. All ages, always free. One of our favorite places to play, the Boiler Room is magic. Like wizards.
Then we visit Ballard for Sunday Bloody Sunset, a matinee show. Starts at 4pm, $5. Hit the SHOWS page for details.
Thanks to Bobble Tiki for his kind words in the south end's Volcano last week.
Con Dad 4 - September 12, 2008
New Gossip Entry! - September 1, 2008
Check the Gossip section for a review of the show at the tractor by Super Fan Carina.
Don't forget that you're all welcome to write your thoughts about Con Dad, good or bad, we'll put it on the site.
Fall recording/All Ages show on Sat. - September 1, 2008
We will be visiting Electro Kitty this Friday for an impromtu recording session. Our recent tape machine experience has shown that it's a much nicer way to fly, gives songs a truer character and quality. We'll see what happens. Here's to making something new!
This Saturday, Septmember 6th we will be setting up on the floor of the LAB to play our "pillowcore" set for Xander Alexander's CD release. Show is ALL AGES at 7. Should be a rockin night but don't hesitate to bring something soft to sit on for our set. Everyone is welcome to "sit in" with the band on the floor as we will, to create a different kind of show. Pillowcore Dad. See you then.
And a huge thank you to the surprisingly large group of people that came to the 21+ show at the Tractor on Friday. Dad loves you.
Tractor Tavern Tonight! - August 29, 2008
Tonight we'll be playing at the Tractor in Ballard. It will be our first time playing there and we're all very excited. We've been working out the set for the past couple days to get back in the swing of playing loud. We hope to see you there.
The Tractor Tavern in Ballard is arguably the best dive bar in Seattle
for live music. The sound is great and the drinks are cheap.
We'll be there with:
-Gary Reynolds
-Spanish for 100
-Yarn Owl
The show starts at 9pm and costs $7. The spanish tennis players had
better be there... you know who you are.
Bellevue Show Rained Out! - August 25, 2008
The almighty Dad, in his wisdom, did smite our Bellevue show last weekend with torrential rains. We we're planning on playing anyway, but when a small waterfall formed directly above the outlet that our main power was coming from, we quickly unplugged our gear and loaded it into the van. The show will be rescheduled and we'll let you all know what happens with it.
We played a guerrilla show at the High Dive in Fremont last Friday and it was a blast. We want to thank Nick and the Spanish Tennis Players for hanging out and making it such a great time. We hope to see you guys on Friday at the Tractor.
Con Dad 3 - August 19, 2008
New Shows! - August 19, 2008
There are four new dates confirmed for us in September: The Lab, Bobs Java Jive, The Boiler Room, and the Sunset.
We're excited for an eventful month with two of the shows out of town and two of them being all ages.
We've been writing like crazy lately and we're working on recording some new demo's to put up on the site. Telekinesis let us borrow an old 4-track tape machine, but we couldn't get it working so we convinced our friend Colin to let us borrow his eight track machine. Hopefully we'll have something up soon.
The KTUB video is on the way. Tonight or tomorrow I'd say.
KTUB - August 17, 2008
We had a really great time with everyone at the show on friday. I'm working on cutting a video together of everything. It should be posted here by tuesday along with our thoughts and feelings from the night.
New songs for KTUB tonight! - August 15, 2008
We've been sweating our asses off in the practice space this week writing 3 new songs. They'll be making their live debut in Kirkland tonight. See you there!
-Exciting City
-Silver Bullets
-Our Mistakes/Our Youth
KTUB show 8/15 - August 14, 2008
We're playing tomorrow at The Kirkland Teen Union Building with one of our favorite bands, Telekinesis. Come support KTUB and see some great bands.
Dad finally got a website. - August 14, 2008
Finally, you can remain up to date with the Dad without the pesky advertising of Myspace. We will keep the myspace page up, but all our news and video updates will be found here from now on.
Cafe Geneve - August 14, 2008
Our show at Cafe Geneve on the 8th was a blast. Lots of free wine and a very strange performance.
We decided to take the PA out of the picture for this show because the cafe is such a small setting. We've had lots of success in the past doing this at The Boiler Room in Port Townsend.
About halfway through the show we invited the people near the front to sit on the deck with us so we could stand around them as we played. At that point things started to get really cool. It's great to perform right next to the audience without the barriers of a stage and PA.
Beth Grant wrote about her experience at the show, check it out in the Gossip section. Thanks Beth!
If anyone else has had an experience worth writing about at one of our shows, (good or bad) we'd love to put it up on our site for the world to see. Go to the contacts section and e-mail your story or a link to your blog to gossip.
